| West Chiltington vs Yapton | |||||
|
West Chiltington nearly paid the penalty for numerous missed chances when they scrapped home 2-1 in Saturday's Division 1 league game against visitors Yapton. Chilt started very brightly and controlled the first half hour with Stuart Miller and Ritchie Franklin bringing excellent saves from the Yapton keeper, before Luke Talbot rose to meet a corner at the far post for Ryan Ashley to force the ball over the line. Within minutes of the restart, Ashley had increased Chilt's lead with fine finish and all the signs were that Chilt would go on to score several more. However an injury to midfielder Matt Talbot brought the inevitable changes and Yapton came more into the game as Chilt lost their shape and composure. The second half was a tale of missed chances with several Chilt players guilty of firing wide when scoring looked easier. As the game progressed Yapton gained in confidence and Chilt were forced to hang on as firstly the visitors hit the crossbar and then were awarded a harsh penalty, which was coolly slotted home. To play badly and still win was the only positive outcome that Chilt were able to take from the game. |
