| West Chiltington vs Lancing Utd | |||||
|
West Chiltington played their best football of the season so far with a convincing 4-1 win over a very useful Lancing Utd side in Saturday's Divison 1 league game. In an closely fought first half, Chilt's greater possession and attacking edge just about deserved them the lead at the interval, courtesy of Paul Connor's cross shot which evaded several players on the line to trickle gently into the Lancing net. However this only proved to be an appetiser for an excellent 45 minutes after the break which saw Chilt overwhelm their opponents. Firstly, man-of-the-match, Russ Harding rose like a salmon to head the ball goal wards for Ryan Ashley to hook the ball over the line, then the same player scored his 8th goal in 5 games from the spot, after Chris Woods had been impeded by the Lancing keeper. Lancing then scored an excellent goal with a thunderbolt from fully 25 yards before substitute Adam Shipton finished off a flowing team move with a half volley into the top corner. The watching Chilt Chairman and Treasurer, so impressed by their team's excellent performance, even helped clear up afterwards, before tucking into lashings of tea and bacon rolls!! |
