Way back the the 1900's the Mythen family lived on an isolated farm in Raheenduff, in the Oulart area of County Wexford, Sout East Ireland. The house was made of marl and stones which was dug nearby. The Ma and Pa had many children. Sons Jack, Andrew, Peter and Patrick along with daughters Elizabeth, Alice, Minnie and Nellie. Andrew passed way at the age of 2, Jack married Kittie and moved to Dublin where he died several years later. Minnie left the home farm when she married Bob Wafer and they setup their own farm in Ballycanew. Alice married Fred Potts and moved to Wales and Elizabeth became a nun and moved to South Aftrica. This left Peter, Patrick and Nellie to continue the running of the farm after Ma and Pa passed away. Minnie's husband Bob, died in the 1960's, hence Minnie spent a lot of time at the farm in Raheenduff.

Fred and Alice (now Potts) had 4 children, two boys and two girls and setup base in the South East corner of Wales. One of the boys married my mum and you guessed, along came me and my sister. This is really where my story starts, back in the summer of 1967.

1974 visit

In 1974, the farm became too much work and they had a bungalow built a few hundred yards up the road. The foundations are pictured above. Less than a year later, Peter soon unfortunatley became ill and passed away. We visited just after the funeral in 1975.

1988 Visit
We visited again in 1989, but unfortunately took no photographs of everyone together. Uncle Pat at the age of 87, became ill and died in June 1989. Auntie Nellie was taken ill in 1990 and died in the August aged 85. This would mark the end of Mountain View bungalow and the last of Mythen's living in Raheenduff. Minnie continued to live a healthy life in Gorey until she passed away in 1993. My Grandmother Alice lived in Newport and reached a good age of 92 before passing away November 2003. God rest the Mythen souls.
