Distance Championships
added  25.1.08
The Club's Distance Championships are being held in March, with events in different age groups and distances from 200 m to 400 m.  Entry forms are to be returned by 15 March.  The forms are available on paper from the Club Table or here.

Active Schools and Cupar & District Swimming Club  added  25.1.08
We are delighted to be working with the local section of "Active Schools" to promote swimming as a healthy and enjoyable activity.  New members are welcome to join the club, with a minimum swimming ability requirement of being able to swim a length on the front and a length on the back reasonably confidently.

New Membership Year  added  25.1.08
The Club has managed to keep its membership and training fees pretty much unchanged over the last several years.  Come this April, however, we are told that the way in which we pay for use of the pool has to change, and thus our membership and training fees have to reflect this. Our other costs have risen, including the cost of the compulsory registration of swimmers and teachers with the Scottish Amateur Swimming Association.  For the new membership year the annual membership fees become

£50 for the first and second child in a family
£40 for the third child, £30 for the fourth child

From now until the end of March the monthly training fees will stay as they are, and evening squad swimmers will continue to pay the Council directly for each swim at the cash desk on the way into the pool.  From the start of April, evening squad swimmers will no longer have to pay the Council on entry to the building, as the Club is required to hire the pool as a whole, as it has been doing for Saturday morning swimmers.  This has the advantage of reducing queuing at the cash desk.  The treasurer has tried to work out the costs involved, and has spread these out over twelve months, even though there will be some times of the year when our pool usage is lower.  These monthly training fees, which are aimed to cover the cost of the pool hire and essential club costs, are as follows.  They will be reviewed later in the year in the light of income and expenditure.

Saturday morning half hour swimmers £11 a month
Saturday morning three-quarter hour swimmers £13.75 a month
Junior Squad swimmers £21 a month
Improver Squad swimmers £22 a month
Development squad swimmers £35.75 a month
Life Savers £9 a month

New Year  added  15.1.08
All the sessions are up and running again after the festive break, and we welcome existing members back.  New members are also welcome at all levels; there are currently no waiting lists.  The new membership year starts in February 2007.  Members should soon be getting a mailing about this.

Saturday Sessions  added  15.1.08
The timetable for the Saturday sessions for the start of the new year is
January 12th Backcrawl,  19th Breaststroke,  26th Breaststroke timing
February 2nd Butterfly,  9th Frontcrawl,  16th Backcrawl,  23rd Backcrawl timing

Annual Ceilidh - added  9.12.07
The Club’s Christmas Ceilidh is on 15 December. As usual, this will be in the Cupar Corn Exchange and should be a great night of dancing for all the family. Tickets are on sale from the Club Table  priced at only £7 each, which includes a light supper. Please put the date in your diary. Donations of raffle prizes would be much appreciated please.

Club Championships Success  added  9.12.07
The finals of the Club Championships were held on 8 December, with swimmers in most age groups competing in A and B finals for the trophies, medals, and ribbons.  There were tremendous swims from swimmers from the eight and under through to the 17 and over age groups.  The Club was delighted to welcome back Margaret Muir to present the trophies and to be the referee.

New members welcome!  added  9.12.07
We have spaces available in all the squads, including the Saturday morning groups. Please spread the word.  Swimmers now from age five upwards and who can swim a length on their front and a length on their back will be welcomed in to our Saturday morning teaching groups.  Our swimming club is a good next step from the swimming lessons in Cupar, Glenrothes, and St Andrews.

Christmas closure - added  4.10.07
The last swimming session of the year will be on 13 December (lifesaving on 12th), with sessions restarting from 8 January.

Club Championships  added  4.10.07
We invite all of our swimming members to enter for the club championships, ideally in all the strokes; entry form enclosed. The heats are on Thursday evenings 15 and 22 Nov. The finals are on 8 December, not long before the pool’s maintenance shut down. After the finals all members (whether swimming in the finals or not) are invited to a pool disco and refreshments.

We hope swimmers will enjoy taking part in the champs, and note that times that they record are important for team selection in the following months. Please bring to the pool an extra towel and a T-shirt to help keep you warm between races. A plastic bottle of water would be a good idea too. Parents please offer to help as an official (we need lots), and consider providing a raffle prize please. Club timekeepers please bring your signature form to the finals.

Annual General Meeting  added  4.10.07
The club’s AGM is to be held at 7.30 pm on Monday 26 November in the Howe of Fife Rugby Club. Parents of swimming members please do come along to the meeting.  This meeting will include reviews of activities over the previous year, a report from the auditor, election of the new committee, and consideration of new membership and training fees. No one will be voted on to the committee who does not want to be, but certainly we are hoping for a few volunteers to help out in this role. The club can keep going only if we continue to have lots of parents helping out on poolside, doing committee work, officiating, etc.

Real Novices Gala  added  4.10.07
On Saturday 10 November John Wishart has his Real Novices Gala in Cupar, which is always a great event.

Margaret Muir added  4.10.07
Margaret has been helping with the club since 1980, and has had a huge impact on swimmers, lifesavers, officials, and teachers. We send many thanks to her for all her input.

Frosties Swim  added  4.10.07
Many swimmers have now picked up their sponsor sheets for our Frosties Distance Swim.  Funds are being raised for Rachel House and our club. The swims will be on 5 and 6 October. Those gaining sponsorship will be provided with appropriate distance certificates and badges by the club.
